Strengthening Pennsylvania’s Response to Child Abuse

PennCAC is the statewide organization supporting Children’s Advocacy Centers and multidisciplinary teams across Pennsylvania—bringing systems together so children receive coordinated, compassionate care when they need it most.

What PennCAC Does

When a child experiences abuse, the response should be clear, coordinated, and focused on their well-being.

PennCAC works behind the scenes to make that possible.

We support Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs) across Pennsylvania and help ensure that professionals—from law enforcement and child welfare professionals to medical and mental health providers—are working together, not in silos.

Our work focuses on:

  • Supporting CACs in delivering consistent, high-quality care
  • Training professionals to respond to abuse in a child-centered, trauma-informed way
  • Strengthening coordination across agencies and disciplines
  • Leading statewide efforts that improve outcomes for children

Why This Matters

Without coordination, the system can feel overwhelming—for both professionals and families. Children may have to repeat their story, to several different agencies, services may be delayed, and critical information may be missed.

When systems work together:

  • Children tell their story to one interviewer, not several
  • Investigations are more effective
  • Services are coordinated and easier to access
  • Families receive the support they need, sooner

PennCAC exists to make that level of coordination possible across Pennsylvania.
