What to Expect During a Visit

Knowing what to expect can make a difficult situation feel more manageable. Children’s Advocacy Centers are designed to support children and families every step of the way.

What Happens During a Visit

Arrival

Families will be welcomed into a calm, child-friendly environment.

Conversation

A trained professional will talk with the child in a way that feels safe and appropriate. Caregivers will meet with a victim advocate who will explain the next steps in the process.

Support Services

Families are connected to additional resources–such as medical or mental health care–as needed.

Take a virtual tour to see what a Children's Advocacy Center looks like and how it supports children and families.

Support for Parents and Caregivers

You’ll be guided through each step and given clear information about what’s happening and why. You won’t be expected to have all the answers.
